Former Prudential PLC (LSE:PRU) chief financer James Turner quit his job at the insurance firm earlier this year after attempting to line up a job for a senior regulator’s relative, reports claim.
Having stepped down in late May over what was then dubbed a “recent recruitment situation” resulting in a code of conduct breach, Turner is now said to have been attempting to help sort a job for the son of a senior Insurance Authority of Hong Kong official.
According to the Wall Street Journal, regulator Carol Hui had approached Prudential while her son was looking for a job.
Given Turner’s alleged role in trying to find a role for him, the company’s human resources department then highlighted the situation as a conflict of interest, sources said.
Turner ultimately ended up stepping down as a result of the incident after roughly a year in the role, with Hui also having left her job since.
