Stocktwits adds options trading to platform amid market volatility

Stocktwits has announced it is adding options trading and increased sentiment data to its platform, giving traders and investors with the stomach the ability to take advantage of market volatility.

The social platform targeted at investors and traders said the new capabilities expand on its existing suite of features at a time when the relationship between sentiment and options trading is at a record high.

Investors can trade options directly through ST Invest, the company’s broker-dealer subsidiary.

"Adding this asset class represents a significant step in our ongoing commitment to provide innovative trading tools and resources to our users,” commented Stocktwits CEO Rishi Khanna.

“Whether you're an experienced trader or just starting out, our Options Trading platform offers an accessible and engaging experience to explore Call and Put Options."

While the platform was initially created to foster discussions about stocks and cryptocurrency, the expansion to include trading features is due to the growing enthusiasm from retail investors.

The platform is currently host to eight million registered users and it aims to build new tools and data, expand execution functions to more asset classes and continue to foster a strong community in the months ahead.
