GK: The most valuable lesson from my career journey is the power of resilience. Over the years, I've encountered numerous challenges and setbacks, as we all do in life, but I've learned that it's not the challenges themselves that define us but rather how we respond to them. The ability to adapt, persevere, and keep moving forward, even in the face of adversity, has been a cornerstone of my success.

GK: One pivotal event that profoundly impacted my career was the global financial crisis of 2008. It was a time of immense uncertainty and financial turmoil. This event reinforced the importance of a prudent and disciplined approach to investing. It taught me the value of sound financial principles and the need for a long-term perspective in navigating volatile markets.

GK: I greatly admire Warren Buffett. His disciplined approach to value investing, his humility, and his dedication to long-term wealth creation have been a source of inspiration throughout my career. Buffett's ability to simplify complex financial concepts and his commitment to ethical investing align with my own values.
Proactive: Could you share the last book you read and your all-time favourite one?
GK: The last book I read or rather listened to via Amazon Audio was "Principles" by Ray Dalio, a thought-provoking exploration of life and work principles. As for my broad selection of favourite books, two that come to mind are "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham. This classic work on value investing continues to be a guide in my own career. In addition, ‘’Think and Grow Rich’’ by Napoleon Hill, is a timeless masterpiece on personal development and financial success covering the business acumen of Andrew Carnegie, who sold out his Steel business to JP Morgan in the early 1900’s, this has been a constant source of inspiration and wisdom throughout my career.
Proactive: How do you, de-stress and unwind outside of work?
GK: To unwind, I find solace in various activities that enrich my life and provide both mental and physical balance. I prioritise spending quality time with my daughters and cherish moments with my family, which bring me immense happiness and fulfilment. Additionally, I have a deep passion for sports, ranging from the adrenaline of Formula 1 and the grace of tennis to the energy of polo, and the precision of golf, despite my lack of precision in golf! I also have a profound appreciation for the arts, exploring the world of culture and creativity. Travelling is another avenue through which I rejuvenate, immersing myself in diverse cultures and gaining fresh perspectives. Furthermore, networking with clients and associates not only fosters professional relationships but also allows me to learn from others and share experiences. These varied pursuits outside of work provide a well-rounded perspective on life, enabling me to return to my professional endeavours with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
