Green Technology Metals readies for Canadian lithium expansion with key executive appointments

As it gears up to become the first lithium concentrate and chemical producer in Ontario, Canada, Green Technology Metals Ltd (ASX:GT1) (GT1) has bolstered its leadership team with two key executive appointments.

The company, which aims to establish integrated lithium operations in North America, has appointed its founding director and substantial shareholder Cameron Henry as an executive director, while Scott Gilbert has been appointed as chief financial officer.

Their appointments are timely and essential to navigate complex procedures involved in securing financing and adhering to regulatory requirements, both of which are crucial as the company progresses into the development phase of its lithium projects.

Positive outlook

GT1 non-executive chairman John Young said: “We are thrilled to announce Cameron's transition into the role of executive director, where he will lead the company through this transformative phase as we aim to advance our portfolio of lithium assets.

“Cameron has been an integral part of our company, serving on the board in a non-executive capacity since its inception.

“His extensive experience and expertise in lithium processing, downstream conversion and marketing add a diverse set of capabilities to our team, positioning us for success as we move forward.

“We are pleased to welcome Scott to our team. As a highly regarded CFO with extensive experience in both debt and equity financing, he is well-equipped to play a pivotal role in securing project financing, ensuring the successful delivery of our projects and ultimately, creating significant value for our shareholders.”

Mining experience

A highly experienced executive, Henry brings more than two decades of experience managing and operating public companies in the mining industry across various commodities and regions.

His notable achievements include serving as the founding managing director of Primero Group Ltd, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the company as an industry leader in engineering and construction, particularly in lithium processing facilities.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to join the GT1 executive leadership team as we embark on an accelerated development journey, aiming to establish ourselves as a leading concentrates and chemicals business in Ontario,” Henry said.

“This is an exciting time for the company as we advance our robust portfolio of exploration and development projects and gear up for construction within the next 12 months.

“I have an invested interest in the success of our company (hence I) am fully committed to ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.”

Financial expertise

Gilbert, with more than 25 years of experience in the mining industry, has held senior-level positions in well-established public-listed companies, including at Wesdome Gold Mines, Kinross, Centerra Gold, IAMGOLD, St. Andrew Goldfields and Harte Gold.

His expertise in debt and equity financing, coupled with a deep understanding of risk management, governance and regulatory requirements, positions him well to manage GT1's financing needs and ensure the successful execution of its projects.

“I am extremely excited to take on the role of chief financial officer at Green Technology Metals during this pivotal phase of growth and development,” Gilbert said.

“The remarkable progress that Green Technology Metals has achieved since listing 20 months ago is a testament to the exceptional team I have the privilege of joining.”

In addition to his local knowledge of the North American mining landscape, Gilbert's professional qualifications as a chartered professional accountant and his academic background in Ontario further strengthen his management credentials.
