The iPhone 15, unveiled at Apple’s annual fall event Tuesday, will come equipped with a USB-C charging port, rather than the company’s signature Lightning connector.
That’s due to a European Union “common charging mandate” signed into law in October that Apple is complying with.
“USB-C has become a universally accepted standard, so we’re bringing it to iPhone,” a speaker said during the event.
But fear not, users can still use their old Lightning chargers to power their new iPhone 15 — for the price of a $29 adaptor.
Following the event, Apple began selling the adaptors on its site.
Meanwhile, iPhone 15, along with 15+, Pro and Pro Max models, will be available for preorder on September 15, with in-store availability on September 22.
