Fireweed Metals Corp (TSX-V:FWZ, OTCQB:FWEDF) has announced the appointment of Patrick (Paddy) G. Downey to its board of directors.
The mineral exploration company said Downey has over 40 years of international experience in the resource industry, including mine operations, development and construction, and is currently CEO of Orezone Gold.
“His experience in engineering, mine-building, and operations helps round out Fireweed’s board and provides essential expertise as we proceed down the path toward development of our large Critical Minerals projects,” Fireweed Metals CEO Brandon Macdonald said in a statement.
Fireweed also noted that Downey previously served as president, CEO, and director of Elgin Mining Inc, Aura Minerals Inc, and Viceroy Exploration Ltd before its acquisition by Yamana Gold (TSX:YRI, LSE:AUY) Inc in 2006.
As well, the company reported that it is granting 230,000 stock options to Downey in connection with his appointment, in addition to 10,000 to a company consultant, exercisable at a price of $1.42 per share for a five-year term.
Fireweed Metals has three projects in Canada: the Macmillan Pass zinc-lead-silver project, the Mactung tungsten project, and the Gayna River zinc-lead-gallium-germanium project.
