Kromek Group PLC (AIM:KMK) said key customer Spectrum Dynamics Medical has launched an advanced imaging system incorporating Kromek's high-performance digital detectors.
The VERITON-CT 300 Series, used in nuclear medicine, is engineered to offer increased sensitivity and throughput, thereby enhancing procedure efficiency across a range of exam types.
It also allows for the simultaneous acquisition of multi-energy peak isotopes, a feature commonly used in theranostic imaging applications. This is particularly significant as it sets a new standard in patient care by offering a 2-4 times improvement in energy range, system sensitivity, and energy resolution compared to current technologies.
The technology leverages Cadmium Zinc Telluride (CZT), a material that is transforming the detector technology used in medical imaging. The use of CZT leads to shorter exam scan times, lower radiation doses to patients, and improved image quality without compromising quantitative accuracy.
The introduction of the VERITON-CT 300 Series marks a significant milestone for Kromek and its ongoing partnership with Spectrum Dynamics Medical. It showcases the potential of Kromek's digital detectors to contribute to advancements in medical imaging technology, thereby enhancing the quality of patient care.
"As the only commercial independent global supplier of CZT, Kromek is well-placed to capitalise on this large market opportunity," Kromek's chief executive Arnab Basu said.
