Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN). is bracing for a lawsuit from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) following a four-year antitrust investigation, according to Bloomberg citing sources.
The anticipated lawsuit will primarily focus on Amazon's marketplace, where over half of its online sales come from third-party merchants, the financial news service said.
These merchants pay a commission for each sale and have expressed concerns about Amazon's alleged practice of linking marketplace access to its logistics service.
This would be the fourth FTC complaint against Amazon this year, highlighting the Biden administration's emphasis on antitrust and competition.
The FTC's probe into Amazon encompasses its marketplace, Prime service, and cloud computing.
Earlier this year, Amazon settled two FTC cases for $30.8 million regarding data privacy concerns. Another ongoing suit accuses Amazon of misleading consumers about Prime memberships. The Wall Street Journal had previously reported on the upcoming lawsuit.
