Wilko’s on/off rescue is potentially on again according to the BBC, with HMV owner Doug Putman edging closer to a rescue of the discount retailer.
Putman will keep 300 of the 400 shops currently open, said the broadcaster, saving around 8,000 of the current 12,500 employees’ jobs according to a Sky News report yesterday.
Wilko has been teetering on the brink for weeks with a bid from private equity firm M2 Capital falling through earlier in the week.
If a deal cannot be reached, from Monday around 269 jobs at the chain's support centre in Worksop would have togo, administrators at PwC said
PwC added that all of the chain's stores are currently trading and remain open, while "discussions continue with those interested in buying parts of the business".
