Lightning Minerals Ltd (ASX:L1M) has completed a successful inaugural drilling program at the flagship Dundas Lithium Project, striking more pegmatites under cover in eight drill holes of up to 17 metres in width.
“Completion of our inaugural drill campaign has thus far proved successful in that it has identified a hydrothermal system with multiple pegmatites under cover being intersected,” Lightning Minerals CEO Alex Biggs said.
“We understand the region is a lithium rich district and our exploration strategy is evolving as we understand more about the local geology.
“We have multiple targets across our Dundas project area in proximity to known lithium resources and operating mines.
“Our aim is to accelerate our exploration to test target areas effectively and efficiently. I commend the team and our contractors on completing a safe, efficient and effective phase 1 drilling program and look forward to updating the market in due course on further progress.”
New pegmatite discoveries
Pegmatite intersections of note from the latest round of reverse circulation (RC) drilling include:
- Hole DSRC0029: 12 metres from 52 metres to 64 metres, 6 metres from 66 metres to 72 metres and 17 metres from 76 metres to 93 metres;
- Hole DSRC0027: 11 metres from 12 metres to 23 metres;
- Hole DSRC0028: 11 metres from 73 metres to 84 metres;
- Hole DSRC0026: 9 metres from 39 metres to 48 metres;
- Hole DSRC0030: 7 metres from 33 metres to 40 metres; and,
- Hole DSRC0032: 6 metres from 49 metres to 55 metres.
Lightning is conducting infill soil sampling on the neighbouring tenement, following up on lithium in soil results of up to 218 parts per million lithium over an 8-kilometre soil anomaly.
It is also planning an infill soil program to follow up results from Dundas North, expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this calendar year.
