IG's chief executive June Felix steps down due to health concerns

IG Group Holdings Plc (LSE:IGG) has announced chief executive June Felix is stepping down after a short period of medical leave.

Felix, who was appointed chief executive in 2018, told shareholders in July she would be away for a “short period”.

But today, the online trading platform said she was stepping down as CEO immediately and will leave the business on 29 September "due to her health situation”.

Headhunter Russell Reynolds will lead the search for her replacement and in the meantime, Charlie Rozes will continue in his current role as acting CEO and chief financial officer.

Mike McTighe, chair of IG Group, said during Felix's tenure "the company has successfully pursued a strategy to diversify the business while at the same time strengthening its core OTC business resulting in a doubling of the group's revenue and profit over the period".

The online trading firm is due to update on trading on 14 September and investors will be looking to see if the subdued markets reported by CMC Markets last week are replicated by IG.

Shares are holding just in the green, up 0.6% at 670.70p.
