Awalé Resources Ltd (TSX-V:ARIC) recently delivered promising assay results from follow-up drilling completed at the Charger and Sceptre East targets at its Odienné project in Côte d'Ivoire, which included 12 metres of 4.9 grams per tonne (g/t) gold.
Awalé CEO Andrew Chubb discussed the significance of the drill results in an interview with Proactive this week.
"(It’s) pretty exciting for us and it means that the system is continuing at depth as we suspected," he said.
Chubb also noted that it is the company’s first diamond drill holes at the project, so they are still in a learning phase with respect to the geology, structure, and geometry, but at the Sceptre East target, which is a lower grade, large tonnage prospect, Awalé drilled a 358 metre hole that ended in mineralization with 3.4% copper equivalent.
"The RC (reverse circulation) drilling around that is extended that strike length to over 700 metres long and 400 metres wide, so it's certainly got scale and we haven't drilled many holes into that system yet either."
Results received to date represent less than 50% of reported holes, according to Chubb, who is still awaiting assays from the Lando, Sceptre Main and BBM targets as well as follow-up drilling at the Charger target.
He did, however, single out Sceptre East, where the company was drilling under some high-grade artisanal working, in which Awalé did some sampling and found grades as rich as 26 g/t gold.
