Boeing falls on yet another 737 MAX delivery delay

The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) has announced yet another issue with its narrow-body 737 MAX jets, following repeated delays hitting deliveries in recent years.

An issue relating to issues from parts supplied by Spirit AeroSystems could affect near-term deliveries, the company admitted on Wednesday, with the extent of the problem yet to fully emerge.

“We continue to deliver 737s that are not affected,” Boeing said, though improperly drilled holes in some aircraft’s aft pressure bulkheads have only “recently” been discovered, meaning a full assessment is still ongoing.

Boeing has repeatedly faced setbacks in its Boeing 737 MAX programme, having already faced issues this year with Spirit AeroSystems-supplied parts.

The Boeing 737 MAX had previously been grounded almost worldwide for two years, after two models of the jet suffered fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019.

Boeing shares dipped over 2% in Thursday’s pre-market trading.
