Fathom Nickel 'excited' for second round of drilling at Gochager Lake project

Fathom Nickel Inc (CSE:FNI, OTCQB:FNICF) is getting ready to kick off another round of drilling at the Gochager Lake project next month.

This second round of drilling is anticipated to include five to six drillholes, covering an approximate distance of 1,800 to 2,000 meters, according to a statement from Fathom.

The primary objective of the campaign is to evaluate the vertical plunge extensions along the strike of highly promising drill results, the company told investors.

Extensive borehole electromagnetic (BHEM) surveys within the vicinity of this region, rich in high-grade nickel mineralization, have delineated a complex array of steeply plunging geophysical targets. Of particular interest is the robust off-hole BHEM anomaly detected beneath Fathom’s previous drillholes, and a historical drillhole, which has been designated as a high-priority focal point for investigation.

Fathom also plans to utilize drillholes to assess the continuity of conductivity, as determined by surface TDEM surveys, both along the Gochager Lake deposit's strike and in a region resembling Gochager Lake situated 300 meters northeast.

Ian Fraser, Fathom’s CEO and vice president exploration, expressed the company's enthusiasm for the upcoming program.

"We are confident and very excited to now further drill-test the apparent very steep controls on the high-grade nickel mineralization intersected in drillhole GL23003,” Fraser said.

Fraser told shareholders that previous results, which revealed “deep, strong conductivity” below the two holes drilled in February 2023 and detected off-hole of a drillhole drilled in 2018, suggest the continuation of the Gochager Lake deposit at depth.

“The strength of this conductor is indicative of a body of semi-massive to massive sulphides similar to what was intersected in drillhole GL23003. The summer TDEM program identified zones of conductivity distal from the historic deposit, suggesting a continuation along strike,” Fraser added. “We look forward to testing all priority targets in the upcoming program."

The anticipated timeframe for completing the drill program is approximately four weeks.
