Graft Polymer (UK) PLC, a chemicals firm specialising in modified polymer solutions, has entered a manufacturing agreement with an undisclosed Israeli pharmaceutical partner.
Under the terms of the deal, Graft will act as the lead contract manufacturing organisation, producing a patented blood-clotting powder at its GraftBio facility in Slovenia.
The product, developed by Professor Danny Baranes from Ariel University, transforms from a powder into a gel upon contact with blood, effectively clotting blood from within a wound. It has applications in emergency medical services, military use and personal wound care.
This partnership allows Graft Polymer to use its GraftBio facility to produce bio-polymers for drug delivery in the pharmaceutical sector. The company will also apply its research and development strengths to further refine the blood-clotting product, leveraging its self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system technology.
The agreement is anticipated to generate a new revenue stream for GraftBio, highlighting the company's cost effectiveness and rapid delivery capabilities. The Israeli partner remains dedicated to enhancing healthcare outcomes, with a focus on wound care and haemostasis solutions.
