Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s new X/Twitter rival Threads is launching a web version in a move to establish itself as the leading Musk alternative.
In a Threads post, Meta CEO said users will be able to access the web version "over the next few days."
The hope for Meta is that the web version helps Threads gain a broader user base among so-called “power users” like major brand accounts, advertisers and high-profile media members.
Threads, which saw 100 million signups within just five days of its July 5 launch, has struggled to maintain its momentum. A month in, daily active users fell to 10.3 million from a peak of 49.3 million, according to data from Similarweb.
Over that span, many users have returned to Twitter, and others have moved to platforms such as Bluesky.
