Golden Shield Resources (CSE:GSRI, OTCQB:GSRFF) Inc has provided exploration results for its 100% owned, flagship Marudi Mountain gold project in Guyana, saying the reinterpreted 25 square kilometre (km2) IP-resistivity survey has proven effective in identifying the mineralized ferruginous quartzite (FQ) and has mapped the prospective horizon over at least six kilometers in total, and at multiple locations that have been untested by drilling.
The gold exploration company noted the recognition of the surface trace of the prospective horizon indicates at least six more prospective Mazoa-type occurrences that were undiscovered or poorly understood before recent trenching, mapping and sampling work.
"Recent geological work at Marudi has been pivotal in providing us with a new exploration model," Golden Shield Resources (CSE:GSRI, OTCQB:GSRFF) executive chairman Leo Hathaway said in a statement.
"Geophysical work has traced the prospective horizon into areas it was previously unknown, and the company's recent work has then 'ground-truthed' this by trenching in these areas and unearthing the horizon in outcrop," he added.
The company also stated that surface trenching, pitting, mapping, and sampling has taken place with the collection of over 2,000 rock samples.
Golden Shield added that it is the first company to have the geophysical data available to guide drilling at Marudi Mountain.
As well, Golden Shield outlined the next steps in its Marudi Mountain exploration, which included: continued field exploration consisting of trenching, pitting, auguring, sampling, and mapping; systematic reverse circulation (RC) drilling on grids and drill testing the ranked drilling targets that will begin in August; and diamond drill testing the best of the RC anomalous areas starting in September, with initial results expected shortly thereafter that are expected to flow until the end of the fourth quarter of 2023.
Golden Shield Resources (CSE:GSRI, OTCQB:GSRFF) is a gold exploration company focused on three highly prospective 100%-owned exploration projects in Guyana, South America: Marudi Mountain, Arakaka, and Fish Creek.
