Skittles packaging prompts new LGBTQ+ controversy

Consumers in the US have, yet again, found another fence to sit on either side of

Skittles, the sweets brand owned by Mars, is coming under fire from ‘anti-woke’ activists after it released limited-edition packaging in collaboration with LGBTQ+ organisation, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).

Featuring LGBTQ+ illustrations and wording like ‘Pride’ and ‘Black Trans Lives Matter’, the packaging has led to people online calling for the brand to be boycotted in a similar trend experienced by Bud Light and Target.

Announcing the campaign back in May, Skittles said: “$1 from each pack sold (up to $100,000) will go to GLAAD in support of the organization's ongoing efforts to work through media to support and increase visibility for the LGBTQ+ community.”

Disgruntled Americans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their concern, claiming the branding is “trying to turn your kids into BLM & LGBTQ+ activists” while others questioned why a “drag queen” featured on the packaging.

Yes…There is a DRAG QUEEN on a skittles package.

Unless they are trying to get your kids to turn into LGBTQ/BLM activists…what’s the point of this?
