Alibaba Group (NYSE:BABA) is set to post higher sales and profit for the June quarter when it hands down its first-quarter fiscal 2024 financial results on Thursday, August 10.
The Hangzhou, China-based digital marketplace is expected to report revenue of $30.79 billion, according to Zacks Consensus Estimate, up 0.3% from the comparable quarter last year.
Earnings are expected to be $1.97 per American depository share (ADS). This would represent a 12.6% jump from the year-ago quarter when Alibaba posted earnings per ADS of US$1.75.
An earnings beat could be on the table, as the company has surpassed the Zacks Consensus Estimate for the last four quarters.
Product and platform innovations and growth in Alibaba’s international commerce business are expected to have been positive contributors during 1Q.
Analysts, on average, expected international commerce revenue of RMB 16.3 billion (about US$2.3 billion), a 5.5% increase over the year-ago quarter.
Alibaba shares traded at US$94.96 shortly after the closing bell on Wednesday.
