Axon Enterprise gets a jolt on higher full-year revenue guidance

Axon Enterprise stock is on the rise Wednesday after the company’s second-quarter earnings surpassed expectations and its guidance improved.

The TASER producer posted earnings of $1.11 per share, up from $0.44 a year earlier and above the Zacks Consensus Estimate (ZCE) of $0.62. Revenue was $374.61 million, up 31% year-over-year and topping the ZCE by 7.8%.

Shares of the company surged 14% to $200.45.

Additionally, Axon bumped up its 2023 revenue expectations to a range of $1.51 billion to $1.53 billion, representing growth of 27% to 29%. Its previously guided range was $1.44 billion to $1.46 billion.

The company also teased a turn toward artificial intelligence.

“Six years ago, we published a vision video with the idea that artificial intelligence could one day extract key information from body camera videos ... We began building AI-enabled technology into our products in 2017 and AI now powers our transcription, video redaction, and automated license plate recognition products,” the company said in a statement.

“We are developing new data applications that will save our customers time while helping to ensure accuracy and justice,” Axon added, noting that more plans are expected to be announced later this year.
