Volex picked by Tesla to supply US charging network

AIM-listed Volex will supply couplers for the charging systems being rolled out across the US

Volex PLC (AIM:VLX) has announced it has become a licensed partner of Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) for the electric vehicle (EV) giant’s North American charging standard.

AIM-listed Volex will supply authentic couplers - connectors – to EV and charging infrastructure companies under the agreement as a selected global manufacturer.

“[We are] stocked and ready to immediately supply automotive original equipment manufacturers and charging infrastructure suppliers,” the company said on Wednesday.

Tesla is currently rolling out its car charging technology across the US, having opened the system up to rival manufacturers last year.

A host of companies have already announced they will fit vehicles with Tesla-charging compatible ports from 2025 as a result, including the likes of Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), General Motors Company (NYSE:GM), Polestar and Rivian Automotive Inc (NASDAQ:RIVN).

“This further validates that Volex continues to be the trusted manufacturing partner of Tesla's charging system technology to the world's leading EV manufacturing companies and suppliers,” executive chairman Nat Rothschild said.
