Card Factory soars on profit outlook upgrade

Card Factory (LSE:CARD) shares skyrocketed 15% on Monday morning after the retailer announced trading in the half year to July was "materially" ahead of expectations.

Despite economic uncertainty, the greeting cards, gifts and celebration essentials retailer reported that strong first-quarter trading, which saw revenue and underlying profit jump by 6.7% and 28.6% respectively, had continued into the second.

This meant the company’s interim results have come in above the board’s expectations, with the full-year forecast now anticipated to be “materially” outdone, Card Factory (LSE:CARD) said.

Shares soared on the outlook upgrade, rising 15% to 102.08p.
