DuPont 2Q earnings and revenue beat estimates; outlook disappoints

DuPont (NYSE:DD) de Nemours Inc on Wednesday reported second-quarter 2023 adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.85, surpassing the $0.83 FactSet consensus.

The chemicals company’s revenue for the period, meanwhile, fell to $3.094 billion from $3.322 billion a year ago on weakness in construction end-markets, but still exceeded the $3.026 billion analyst consensus forecast.

“Our results continue to be impacted by the ongoing softness in consumer-driven businesses primarily within electronics, however, we did see sequential sales improvement in our Interconnect Solutions business during the second quarter,” DuPont (NYSE:DD) CEO Ed Breen said in a statement.

For 3Q, DuPont stated it now expects adjusted EPS of $0.84 on revenue of $3.150 billion, below the FactSet consensus EPS of $0.93 on $3.195 billion in sales.

Shares of DuPont eased $0.11 to $76.94 early Wednesday but have gained 12% year to date.
