Platinex Inc. (CSE:PTX) said it has finalized plans for an inaugural exploration program at the South Timmins Mining Joint Venture properties, which include the Mallard, Shining Tree, and Heenan gold projects that lie along the Ridout-Tyrrell Deformation Zone in the Abitibi Subprovince.
The company holds a 75% interest in the joint venture with Fancamp, which holds a 25% interest.
Work at the Mallard project, which is located northwest of IAMGOLD/Suminoto’s Côté Gold project, will commence in August and will include prospecting, geochemical surveying, and geological mapping with the goal of identifying potential extensions of the Camp and River zones that showed gold mineralization hosted within two northwest-oriented shear zones during earlier exploration.
At the Shining Tree project, work crews are already advancing a program at the Ronda/Central Area, including Area 3, to assess a possible long-strike relationship between previously noted gold occurrences.
The program includes prospecting, geochemical surveying, and geological mapping, in addition to stripping and trenching in the Ronda area to better understand the mineralization controls on the surface.
In Area 1, the company intends to carry out reconnaissance prospecting and geological mapping targeting RTDZ northwest of the Herrick area.
Platinex noted that work in Area 2 and Area 3 was completed in July and the results would be announced once assays had been received.
Finally, a stripping program is planned to commence in September at the Heenan project to follow up on previous work by Fancamp at the site.
Platinex said these initial work programs at Mallard, Shining Tree, and Heenan are intended to select the highest priority targets for drilling.
About 2,000 metres of drilling will commence in the second half of 2023, with more advanced field programs to continue throughout the joint venture earn-in period.
Platinex creates shareholder value through the opportunistic acquisition and advancement of high-quality projects in prolific Ontario mining camps.
