Darktrace backer Summit offloads big chunk of shares

Shares in cyber security specialist Darktrace PLC (LSE:DARK) slipped 3% as major shareholder Summit Partners unloaded 20.8mln shares through a placing overnight.

One of Darktrace's original backers when private, Summit owned 20.7% of the cyber security specialist when it floated just over two years ago, with the shares just sold representing 3% of the issued share capital.

Darktrace shares shot up last week when it was given the all-clear in an independent review by EY into its accounting procedures following a short-seller attack.

EY's report would have no impact on any of its previous financial statements, it said, with the accounts fairly representing Darktrace's financial position and results.

Summit Partners said it will not make additional sales of shares in Darktrace for a period of 60 days.

Shares dropped 11p to 379.9p.
