PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:PYPL) is expected to once again top Street expectations when it reports its second quarter earnings on Wednesday, August 2.
The online payment system provider has a track record of exceeding earnings expectations, with an average surprise for the past two quarters of 4.85%, according to Zacks Equity Research.
Zacks noted that its earnings expected surprise prediction for the stock is positive at plus 0.12%, which is an indicator of an earnings beat as analysts have become bullish on PayPal’s earnings potential.
Analysts, on average, expected PayPal to report earnings per share (EPS) of $1.16 on revenue of $7.26 billion.
This represents increases of 24.73% and 6.61%, respectively, over EPS of $0.93 and revenue of $6.81 billion in the year-ago quarter.
PayPal shares traded at $74.32 late morning on Thursday. The stock is down 0.3% in the year to date.
