Klondike Gold fieldwork turns up 'abundant visible gold' at Yukon project

Klondike Gold Corp. (TSX-V:KG) has announced 2023 field results as well as 2022 gold assay results from the Stander deposit located on its Klondike District property in Yukon, Canada.

The company reported “abundant visible gold” (ie, greater than 20 individual grains) in an outcropping 10-centimerter quartz vein within a carbonate alteration halo at the Gold Run target area.

Additionally, Klondike discovered numerous potentially gold-mineralized outcropping quartz veins with coarse pyrite, native sulphur and potentially silver telluride within the Dominion target area.

Then, there was a bonanza gold vein portion within a new exposure where gold occurs as 1-3 millimeter wide plates, dendritic crystals into voids, and small 2 millimeter nuggets within fracture seams in outcropping Gay Gulch quartz vein, the company said. That was also near where a previously reported sample assayed 4,064 grams per ton of gold.

“The company's team has made three recent discoveries of gold in outcrop following implementation of several new science-based upgrades to our exploration models,” CEO Peter Tallman said in a statement.

“It is very exciting and energizing to screen drill targets with prospecting and mapping and find visible gold in outcrop in each of them, distributed over the 50 kilometer strike length of the property."

Drilling is expected to begin on August 1.

Meanwhile, the company reported new assay results from the company’s 2022 exploration program spanning 24 diamond drill holes.

Highlights include 24.85 meters of 0.42 g/t gold in hole EC22-453 and 6 m of 2.20 g/t gold from in hole EC22-455.

More highlights can be found here.

The Stander zone gold deposits are contained within schists and felsic rocks considered to be an island arc-related assemblage of the Klondike Schist, the company said. Orogenic gold mineralization is associated with low-angle sheeted gold-bearing quartz veins.
