Bowleven rallies but down 14% after denial

Bowleven’s rollercoaster week continued as shares in the Cameroon-focused oiler bounced around on Friday.

The company put out a statement early stating there was no reason it knew why its shares had jumped to 1.75p from 1.05p yesterday.

That was enough to send the price down by a third on opening, but in true bulletin-board favourite style no amount of denials will ever convince the punters and by mid-morning a good chunk of the losses had been recouped.

Bowleven said in March it was looking for additional funds to finance its share of the Etinde project.

Shares now are down 14% or 0.25p at 1.5p.
