Avricore Health (TSX-V:AVCR, OTC:AVCRF) announced that it has partnered with Ascensia Diabetes Care to integrate its blood glucose monitoring systems with Avricore’s pharmacy-based point-of-care testing platform HealthTab.
Avricore said the objective of the partnership is to support patients and pharmacists in Canada to better manage diabetes by linking daily blood glucose testing results and pattern history data collected via Ascensia’s CONTOUR NEXT GEN or CONTOUR NEXT ONE meters to the patient’s HealthTab account.
According to the company, combining these new daily data insights from the patient's blood glucose monitoring meters with the results of their HealthTab testing, such as their HbA1c and lipids profile, will deliver a more robust personal health data tool for the fight against diabetes.
“Health data silos are leading to terrible outcomes for patients, but with this collaboration we can ensure patients and their pharmacists have the right information for better care decisions,” Avricore CEO Hector Bremner said.
“This is also the first time we are integrating a device that is with the patient and not located in the pharmacy, opening doors for exciting possibilities for HealthTab.”
Ascensia head of region Americans Annika Pawaroo added in a statement: “This partnership is a vital step in elevating patient care delivery to the next level.”
It is expected that Avricore and Ascensia will conclude technical work and launch the patient interface by the third quarter of 2023 and ongoing work is being conducted to identify ways to communicate and encourage patient engagement.
