Ondo InsurTech PLC (LSE:ONDO) said it has been made an affiliate partner of Waterwise, a leading non-governmental UK water efficiency organisation.
London-listed Ondo explained that the pair would work together to fight the UK’s emerging water crisis by promoting the likes of leak-preventing technologies.
“Ondo and Waterwise will collaborate to promote the wise use of water,” the claims prevention tech provider said in a statement. This will include the use of technology such as Ondo’s LeakBot, a smart device designed to spot water leaks, reducing both usage and the cost of damage to households.
“Bringing together the insurance and water sectors to deploy LeakBot makes sense as costs are reduced for both parties and together," Ondo boss Craig Foster commented.
“With LeakBot, we can see the potential for a truly scalable solution that benefits both the insurance and water sector and could make a real difference to reducing UK water demand,” added Waterwise policy head Nathan Richardson.
According to Waterwise, preventing leaks in toilets alone could save enough water to meet the demand of 2.8mln people in the UK.
By supporting widespread use of such tech, Waterwise – dubbed the UK’s independent conscience on water efficiency – believes Britain could work toward saving a required 1,000 megalitres of water a day, dampening environmental effects and the risk of drought.
