Ferro-Alloy Resources sees production 'continuing on an upward trajectory'

Ferro-Alloy Resources Ltd (LSE:FAR) chief executive Nick Bridgen described the production at the Balasausqandiq vanadium project as "steady state" following completion of plant modifications.

He said the company is now expecting production to progress on an upward trajectory.

The AIM-quoted miner today reported strong first-half production from the project in southern Kazakhstan.

Robust production numbers follow the completion of plant upgrades previously which were designed to enhance production and maximise value per produced tonne.

Ferro-Alloy highlighted that the second quarter was its most productive quarter to date, whilst the total volume of concentrate processed for the half-year period amounted to 1,210.7 tonnes - with production comprising 172.7 tonnes of vanadium pentoxide, 20.6 tonnes of molybdenum and 60.5 tonnes of nickel.

"I am delighted to report that the plant modifications are now complete and operating efficiently, as demonstrated by our Q2 production figures,” Bridgen said in a statement.

“Crucially, we now recover the maximum of all the valuable components of the raw materials meaning a great deal more value is extracted from each tonne treated and no tailings or other residues remain on site.

“With the plant now operating in steady-state and additional concentrate supply contracts in place going into the second half of the year, we expect production to continue on this upward trajectory."

In the statement, Ferro-Alloy also highlighted that during the period it signed new contracts for vanadium concentrate supplies, aimed to boost supply reliability, and it also signed contracts for the sale of nickel concentrate to new customers, on improved commercial terms.

It also noted its commitment to environmental sustainability, with the company confirming a shift to natural liquid gas for powering its roasting equipment from the third quarter onwards. This is expected to augment supply reliability, cut costs and reduce emissions, the company said.
