Green Technology Metals Ltd (ASX:GT1)’s expansive exploration program at the Root Bay prospect of the Root Project in Canada has kicked off with a bang, identifying new spodumene rock 1.4 kilometres along strike from the deposit, extending the prospective strike to 2.7 kilometres.
Infill drilling at the Root Bay prospect also generated promising results, with high-grade lithium up to 1.78% present in seven of nine drilled holes, demonstrating the consistency of economical-grade lithium at the deposit.
“We maintain a strong focus on advancing exploration efforts at the Root Project, in addition to having multiple field teams engaged in prospecting activities we currently have two drill rigs operating non-stop at Root Bay,” Green Technology Metals CEO Luke Cox said.
“The preliminary results continue to instil confidence in our resource and validate the ongoing presence of consistent high-grade intercepts within the deposit.”
Drilling progress so far
To date, GT1 has completed 45 holes for 7,668 metres of drilling out of an intended 22,000-metre program, with assays pending for 36 holes.
The first seven assays of note from infill drilling at Root Bay include:
- 17.1 metres at 1.77% lithium from 71.0 metres;
- 17.2 metres at 1.74% from 57.2 metres;
- 19.6 metres at 1.50% from 26.9 metres;
- 16.0 metres at 1.78% from 167.1 metres;
- 16.8 metres at 1.69% from 82.5 metres;
- 16.8 metres at 1.61% from 139.6 metres; and
- 16.3 metres at 1.62% from 131.4 metres.
GT1 intends to continue drilling over the next quarter to upgrade the tonnage and JORC confidence category of the Root Bay maiden resource, which currently sits at 8.1 million tonnes at 1.32% lithium, in the inferred category.
