Oncimmune appoints new CEO and finance director

Oncimmune Holdings PLC (AIM:ONC) has appointed Martin Gouldstone as its new chief executive and Martin Hudson to a new role of finance director.

Gouldstone, who will start on 1 August, brings over 25 years of experience in the life science sector, most recently as senior vice president of business development at AI biotech Owkin.

Currently the independent non-executive director (NED) at hVIVO, he also has held senior commercial roles at a major contract research organisation (CRO).

He replaces Adam Hill, who stepped down following the divestment of Oncimmune Ltd, with the group now focusing on its ImmunoINSIGHTS autoantibody profiling pharma services business.

Gouldstone “brings considerable experience in commercialising products and services in the life science industry and will be leading our business development efforts”, said chairman Alistair Macdonald.

Hudson’s appointment has been made as Matthew Hall has decided to leave after more than five years at the company as chief financial officer.

In the new role heading the company's finance function and supporting the new CEO, Hudson comes with over 19 years' international experience in large multinationals and smaller entrepreneurial environments since gaining his CIMA qualification, including more than seven years with the McLaren Group and over four years at Williams Advanced Engineering.

He will take the role on 4 September after a transition period working with Hall over the coming months.

The group also has begun the search for a new independent NED and a chair of its audit committee as Andrew Unitt has also stepped down, having spent more than nine year on the board.

Said Macdonald: “With these changes to the leadership team, we believe that Oncimmune is now poised to begin FY2024 with the right leadership and resources to deliver on its plan for growth, which is based on our strong intellectual property portfolio, our master services agreements with major pharma companies and our recently announced long term relationship with Freenome, Inc.

“Since our last announcement in June we have continued to engage with our shareholders to understand their views on the company's leadership and direction. We will continue to engage all of our stakeholders as we move forward, and we are excited to see the impact of a more focussed and commercially orientated leadership team on the business."
