Birkenstock, owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (EPA:MC) (LVMH)-backed private equity firm L Catterton, is considering an initial public offering (IPO) valued at more than $6 billion, according to media reports.
The German sandal maker is reportedly working with advisors including Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) and JPMorgan & Chase Co on a possible US listing.
One source told WWD that the IPO could go ahead as soon as the fall.
LCatterton acquired a majority stake in Birkenstock in 2021 in a deal valued at about €4 billion (US$4.35 billion).
Regarding the rumored IPO, L Catterton and Birkenstock declined a request for comment from Reuters and LVMH did not immediately respond to the request.
