Crispin Odey is facing more allegations of improper conduct with the Financial Times today reporting that six more women have come forward with harassment claims following its original article a month ago.
Odey is already under investigation by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) about his ‘fit and proper status’ following earlier claims of improper conduct by the hedge fund manager stretching back 25 years.
Nikhil Rathi, the financial watchdog’s chief executive, this week said it had been in contact with the police over some of the claims.
Odey was recently ousted as head of the firm he set up, Odey Asset Management, which has been hit by a rush of clients withdrawing funds.
Management has been trying to sell parts of the business and wind down investments to raise funds to deal with the redemptions.
Odey, who has strenuously denied all of the allegations made in the FT, was cleared in 2021 of a charge of sexually assaulting a female banker.
