Global Energy Metals Corp (TSX-V:GEMC) (GEMC) announced that its strategic partner, Kingsrose Mining Limited, has started core drilling at the Råna nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide project in Nordland County, Norway.
The drilling program, covering a planned 5,000 meters, aims to test areas adjacent to known mineralization and target highly conductive zones identified through geophysical surveys, which have the potential to host significant sulphide nickel-copper-cobalt mineralization.
The initial focus of the drilling is the Bruvann Mine area, where the extensions to mineralization inferred from historical drilling results will be targeted. Ground-based magnetotelluric (MT) and fixed loop electromagnetic (FLEM) surveys have already been completed at Bruvann, and the interpretation of the 3D data inversions will generate additional drill targets.
To aid in the interpretation, Newexco consultants, with their experience in similar nickel sulphide exploration projects, have been engaged.
Meanwhile, a ground-based MT survey is currently underway at the Rånbogen prospect to identify drill targets. Airborne Magnetotelluric geophysical data acquisition has been completed, and the data inversion process is in progress, providing valuable insights for further exploration within the intrusion.
Additionally, a detailed drone-based magnetic survey has commenced over the Bruvann and Rånbogen prospect areas.
In a statement, Mitchell Smith, CEO and director of GEMC, expressed satisfaction with the progress made by their partner, commenting: "I am pleased that our strategy of attracting well-financed, technically skilled partners on a project level is once again affording our shareholders exploration upside on an important battery metals project."
Andrew Tunningley, Kingsrose's head of Exploration, emphasized the significance of the geophysical dataset and the drilling program, saying: "The combined geophysics and drilling are a key step in understanding where mineralization may be concentrated."
GEMC aims to provide investment exposure to the growing rechargeable battery and electric vehicle market through a diversified portfolio of exploration and growth-stage battery mineral assets.
