Kin Mining NL (ASX:KIN) has ticked off another successful exploration drilling program at the Cardinia Gold Project’s Eastern Corridor prospects, with extensional aircore drilling revealing two new mineralised trends to the north of Rangoon prospect.
The aircore program’s results also revealed the presence of continuous mineralisation between Rangoon and Collymore, some 2 kilometres to the north, with shallow mineralisation that remains untested at depth.
KIN says these results – which graded up to 4 metres at 0.98 g/t gold from 32 metres – provide further evidence of the 'camp-scale' potential for gold mineralisation along the 5-kilometre-plus strike between Cardinia Hill and Helens in the south to Collymore in the north.
All assays have now been returned for the 14,690-metre aircore program, which will be followed up with deeper reverse circulation (RC) drilling.
Priority targets for follow-up drilling
“These latest results confirm that a number of newly discovered mineralised positions within the Eastern Corridor have geological continuity of mineralisation, confirming these areas as priority targets for follow-up RC drilling and highlighting extensions to previously intersected quartz pyrite mineralisation,” Kin Mining managing director Andrew Munckton said.
Munckton highlighted the similarities between these latest results and those seen at all deposits in Cardinia’s Eastern Corridor, where the combination of soil geochemistry and shallow aircore drilling has frequently resulted in the discovery of sizeable gold deposits at depth.
“Based on these similarities, we’re very much looking forward to testing the emerging additional mineralised positions with deeper drilling.”
Highlight results from drilling between Cardinia Hill and Collymore include:
- 4 metres at 0.98 g/t gold from 32 metres;
- 16 metres at 0.57 g/t from 56 metres;
- 8 metres at 0.50 g/t from 4 metres; and
- 6 metres at 0.81 g/t from 60 metres to the end of hole.
Large multi-faceted gold camp emerging
“The Eastern Corridor – where Kin has focused most of its exploration efforts over the last 18 months – is emerging as a large, multi-faceted mineralised gold camp,” Munckton continued.
“It already hosts a very significant mineralised position, with mineral resources totalling 475,000 ounces at 1.42 g/t defined so far, mainly at the Helens-Rangoon, Helens East and Cardinia Hill deposits, the three most recent discoveries.
“With these latest results suggesting that the 2-kilometre strike extent between Collymore and Rangoon may be continuously mineralised – opening up the possibility of significant additional targets along this corridor – we believe that the growth potential in this area for more discoveries of similar size and grade is exceptional.”
Initial results from drilling in the northern section of the project’s tenure (between Collymore and Rangoon) include:
- 9 metres at 2.10 g/t gold from 36 metres to the end of hole;
- 4 metres at 1.84 g/t from 4 metres;
- 4 metres at 2.08 g/t from 20 metres;
- 4 metres at 2.30 g/t from 52 metres;
- 4 metres at 2.39 g/t from 16 metres;
- 4 metres at 2.09 g/t from 8 metres; and
- 8 metres at 1.84 g/t from surface.
