Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) shares are poised for takeoff with the release of its second quarter results on Thursday, July 13 if the airline can deliver profit and revenue in line with its recently raised guidance.
In late June the airline upped its 2Q profit forecast to $2.25 to $2.50 per share from its previous guidance of $2 to $2.25 per share.
If achieved, this would be the highest-ever profit reported by the company for the April to June period, Delta CEO Ed Bastian said during an investor presentation.
Analysts, on average, expect the company to report earnings per share of $2.11, according to Zacks Consensus Estimate.
Delta also raised its revenue outlook for 2Q to 18% year-over-year, above its previous guidance of a range of 15% to 17%.
The airline’s shares were trading up 1.7% at US$48.76 on Wednesday afternoon. The stock is up 49.5% in the year to date.
