HSBC, Halifax, TSB and Nationwide have again increased the prices of their mortgages following last week's base rate hike.
Nationwide’s increases kick in tomorrow while the other major lenders raised their prices from today.
Halifax, the UK’s biggest mortgage lender, upped its fixed rates for both direct and broker deals by 0.3%.
That brings its rate for a five-year fixed-rate mortgage at 75% loan-to-value to 5.39%, according to the Evening Standard.
TSB increased rates by 0.35%, pricing its two-year fixed-rate 90% deal at 6.54%, although HSBC had the most drastic hike, increasing rates by 0.55% with its two-year 90% value rate rising to 5.84%.
Nationwide announced that it would be increasing fixed rates by up to 0.35% from tomorrow.
The latest increases in mortgages come a week after the Bank of England raised interest rates to 5%.
Interest rates are expected to climb further, with markets expecting them to peak at 6.25%, which suggests more mortgage hikes and headaches for homeowners and buyers.
