Greatland Gold makes rapid start to drilling on Rio Tinto acreage

Greatland Gold PLC (AIM:GGP, OTC:GRLGF) has launched a maiden drilling campaign at Paterson South in Western Australia just four weeks after sealing a farm-in and joint venture deal with Rio Tinto Exploration.

Exploration drilling has begun at the Stingray target on the Budjidowns tenement, which lies to the north of Greatland's Havieron gold-copper project.

Drilling will also commence shortly at the Decka target, added Greatland, which is a combined magnetic and conductive anomaly within proterozoic sediments similar to Havieron

Both targets are modelled within 250 metres of surface, making them shallower than Havieron

Shaun Day, Greatland’s managing director, commented: “The rapid commencement of drilling following entry into the farm-in and joint venture arrangement with Rio Tinto Exploration is testament to both the high quality of the targets and Greatland's drive to rapidly unlock greater value from our Paterson province exploration portfolio."

Havieron is being developed through a joint venture partnership with Newcrest Mining.
