Arecor's rapid-acting insulin works faster than rivals in phase I study

Arecor Therapeutics PLC (AIM:AREC) said data from its second phase I clinical trial showed its ultra-rapid acting insulin product candidate, AT247, was absorbed much faster than other rapid-acting insulins, giving people with Type I diabetes better control over their blood sugar levels.

Arecor is conducting a phase II clinical trial of AT247 and expects to report top-line results from this trial in the second half of this year.

"These data reinforce AT247's potential to enable even more effective disease management for people with Type I diabetes," said Sarah Howell, Arecor CEO.

"AT247 has the potential to be a key component in the move towards a fully closed loop artificial pancreas system, a potentially life changing treatment option for people living with diabetes."

The results were shared in a poster presentation at the American Diabetes Association 83rd Scientific Sessions meeting, being held until Monday (26 June) in San Diego, California and online.
