California is no longer the most expensive state in the US to purchase gas with Washington overtaking the Golden State to have the priciest fuel, according to data from motoring and leisure organization AAA.
As of Thursday, regular-grade gas on average costs $4.949 per gallon in Washington, ahead of California’s $4.859 and well above the national average of $3.584 per gallon.
In some metropolitan areas such as Seattle-Bellevue-Everett and Longview, regular gas is more than $5 per gallon.
Mid-grade gas is going for $5.135 per gallon on average in the state while premium-grade will set motorists back $5.343 per gallon.
Prior to the past few days, Washington has never been the most expensive date for gas, according to a CNN report.
The cheapest gas in the US can be found in Mississippi at $3.010 per gallon for regular-grade fuel.
