Evergreen Sustainable Enterprises activates hydroelectric-powered bitcoin miners in Costa Rica

Evergreen Sustainable Enterprises (OTCQB:EGSE) Inc has begun operations for its 240 new Bitmain S19J Pro+ ASIC bitcoin miners, the company announced.

Roughly half the miners went into operation on June 16, and the remainder were brought online Thursday. The miners are powered by the company's fully sustainable, green energy hydroelectric dam located 25 miles outside San Jose, Costa Rica.

The miners have a hash rate of 122 terahashes per second and power efficiency of 27.5 joules per terahash, which makes them among the most powerful and energy-efficient on the market, the company said.

Those figures, plus a power cost of just $0.02 per kilowatt hour from the dam, lead the company to estimate a break-even marker of a BTC market price as low as $10,145. On Thursday morning, BTC was valued above $30,000.

"This is an exciting development and milestone for our company and our Costa Rican partner,” CEO Gary Evans said in a statement. “Timing is perfect as it relates to the rainy season in Costa Rica with plenty of hydropower available for our operations. Additionally, we acquired these machines back in January when BTC was hovering around $16,000.”

The company is also seeking out other low-cost power opportunities both in Costa Rica and certain US states where stranded power assets exist, Evans added.
