Anglo Asian Mining says Gilar to start producing later this year

Anglo Asian Mining PLC (AIM:AAZ, OTC:AGXKF) confirmed it expects the first of its two new mines under construction, Gilar, to move into production later this year.

Gilar, along with Zafar, its other new mine, is crucial in the company’s plans to become a mid-tier copper producer within five years, said chief executive Reza Vaziri ahead of its AGM.

Vaziri added 2022 was another good year overall for the Azerbaijan-focused miner even though production dipped 11% to 57,618 gold equivalent ounces.

Revenues were US$84.7mln and profit before taxation totalled US$7.5mln with cash of £20.4mln at the year end.

"We were delighted that, in July 2022, amendments to the company's Production Sharing Agreement were passed into law in the Republic of Azerbaijan, granting the company the three new contract areas of Xarxar, Demirli and Garadag,” he added.

“The Xarxar and Garadag contract areas are contiguous with the company's existing Gedabak and Gosha contract areas and contain substantial quantities of copper.“
