Avacta Group PLC (AIM:AVCT) shares jumped 8% as the AIM-listed life sciences firm reported the successful completion of the fifth dose escalation in its AVA6000 clinical trial.
Data continues to show “a very favourable safety profile for the tumour-targeted chemotherapy,” Avacta said in a statement.
AVA6000 aims to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy by targeting its release in tumour tissue, with a total of 29 patients across the US and UK now having been dosed with the drug.
Chief executive Alistair Smith dubbed the higher dose results “remarkable,” adding there was indeed a “significant reduction” in side effects from doxorubicin when it was modified with Avacta’s drug.
