Bushveld Minerals focuses on stability after tough 2022

In addition to supply chain disruption, there were ore and power supply issues during the year.

Bushveld Minerals says it is undertaking a series of measures to restore momentum in operational stability, revenue generation, cost constraint, profitability and cash generation after a disappointing year.

Revenues for the year to end December 2022 rose to US$148mln (US$107mln), with net losses for the year US$35.4mln (US$34.2mln).

Vanadium specialist Bushveld said in addition to supply chain disruption, there were ore and power supply issues during the year.

Going forward, Bushveld said it had taken steps to secure a more reliable power supply through a mini-grid, while the BELCO electrolyte plant will be commissioned and commence production during the second half of 2023.

At chemicals arm Vanchem, an arrangement has been concluded with the municipality to stabilise power supply and this has already had a positive impact in the first quarter of 2023.

Plans for CellCube, one of Bushveld Energy's assets, to be split out and listed on the London Stock Exchange are also making progress, said the statement.

Bushveld will retain a significant minority holding in Cellcube.

Negotiations about a restructuring of the financing provided by Orion are also underway to extend debt maturities and to reduce the equity dilution overhang from the convertible loan note.
