Halfords shares cycle 4% higher after it predicts a return to profit growth

Halfords Group PLC (LSE:HFD), the UK's leading retailer of motoring and cycling products, saw its shares rise by 5% on Wednesday, following its projection of a modest 3% profit growth in the current financial year, even as consumers grapple with a cost-of-living crisis.

The company plans to increase market share in the bikes and car parts sectors by keeping prices competitive.

For the year ending March 2024, Halfords is comfortable with an analysts' consensus forecast of £53.3mln.

This follows a 38% decrease to £51.5mln in the last financial year, attributed to inflationary pressures and a tough comparison against the previous year.

At 8.34 m, Halfords' shares were changing hands for 200.6p, up 8.6p.
