Tempest Minerals hunts for massive sulphides at Yalgoo with regional EM survey

Tempest Minerals Ltd (ASX:TEM) has kicked off an airborne electromagnetic (EM) survey over the Meleya and War West areas of the Yalgoo Project, looking for evidence of a massive sulphide mineralised system that may host gold and copper, among other base and precious metals.

The survey, flown over the central portion of the project, is designed to add to existing data sets by providing ultra-high resolution geophysical data.

New exploration targets

Tempest intends to leverage the new data from its EM surveys to produce multiple new exploration targets at Yalgoo, adding to that already generated in past fieldwork.

Electromagnetic surveys measure the electrical conductivity and magnetic susceptibility of the earth.

These properties are influenced by the presence of water, minerals and other materials and can be used to map the distribution of anomalies in the subsurface to assist mineral exploration.

Some types of sulphide mineralisation are conductive and EM in particular is widely used for the identification of the presence of volcanogenic massive sulphides (VMS) such as found at the nearby Golden Grove operations and other prospects within the Yalgoo Region.

The survey will be flown in 300 lines at 200-metre spacing for about 2,000 line-kilometres.
