Northern Superior Resources Inc said that extensive exploration work has been completed at its partially owned Philibert project, located 60 kilometres southwest of Chibougamau, Québec, and it has now reached the advanced stage of an independent resource calculation for the project.
The company owns 75% of the project and holds an option to acquire the remaining 25%.
Northern Superior highlighted that it carried out a 3,000-metre (m) drill program earlier this year to investigate a 300m gap between two of the five main zones at the project that exists due to a lack of exploration.
Peripheral results are encouraging, the company said, with the full results anticipated shortly.
Northern Superior believes, should the gap demonstrate contiguous mineralization, the project could potentially host a larger, more continuous open pit operation for all zones which, in turn, could eventually facilitate operational access to the higher-grade mineralization at depth.
It has also identified “exciting” targets beyond the defined mineralization trend, which it intends to test in the future.
"Having invested substantial effort and resources into advancing the Philibert project, we are eagerly anticipating the final results and the impending completion of the mineral resource estimate,” said Northern Superior CEO Simon Marcotte in a statement.
“We firmly believe that these outcomes will not only establish Philibert as a pillar within the camp but also propel the Chibougamau gold Camp to become a globally recognized tier-1 asset.”
Northern Superior Resources is a gold exploration company focused on the Chibougamau Camp in Québec.
