CULT Food Science Corp (CSE:CULT, OTCQB:CULTF) has announced a strategic investment in Alcheme Bio, a flavor optimization platform, to support its growth and development.
The collaboration aims to accelerate the progress of cellular agriculture products for CULT and its portfolio companies.
Alcheme Bio, founded by Dr Vanessa Small, a seasoned scientist with extensive experience at renowned organizations like Pfizer and Abbott, is at the forefront of taste innovation in cellular agriculture. With Clair Purcell, the chief operating officer of Alcheme Bio, who brings a decade of experience from Boston Consulting Group and Newlab, the company is driving breakthrough technologies in the cultivated foods space.

Dr Small initiated Alcheme Bio in 2022 through Newlab's Venture Studio Entrepreneur in Residence program. She has a strong belief in creating an equitable food system and envisions a sustainable planet achieved through technological advancements that enable food production anywhere with minimal resources and energy.
During the program, Dr Small collaborated with venture builders and advisors in the cellular agriculture field to identify a significant market opportunity with maximum impact. Among more than 30 initial ideas, Alcheme Bio emerged as the winning concept, focusing on the crucial aspect of flavor in cultivated foods.
"We were surprised to find a lack of attention on flavor. To encourage widespread adoption, cultivated foods need to taste delicious. We aim to make our products not only flavorful but also cost-effective by utilizing biochemistry methodologies specific to the cultivated foods industry," Dr Small said.
Alcheme Bio is currently partnering with several cultivated food companies to pilot their flavoring approach. The company is strategically selecting its early-stage partners, aiming to grow alongside them as they scale up and the market expands.
